Blueberry Sauce

This is utterly delicious served over ice cream.
Make a red, white and blue sundae using strawberry ice cream, blueberry sauce and whipped cream. Or use vanilla ice cream and garnish with fresh strawberries. -- Jeanne Besser

Hands on time: 5 minutes  Total time: 15 minutes  Serves: 6

Ingredients:

    12 ounces fresh blueberries

    1/2 cup water

    1/3 cup granulated sugar

    1 teaspoon grated lemon zest

Instructions:

In a saucepan, combine blueberries, water, sugar and lemon zest. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer gently for 10 minutes. --- Adapted from "The Summer Book" by Susan Branch (Little Brown, $21.95)
