Q: For years, I've heard favorable comments about Liza's Cafe in Chamblee. I finally had the opportunity to go there for lunch. I was not disappointed. It was delightful. We ordered the strawberry soup. I want it. I need it.

A: Fran Gibson, the restaurant's owner/chef, was happy to share the recipe for this refreshing cold soup. Her restaurant, recently renamed Gibson's 1882 Dining House, offers a wide variety of soups at lunch and dinner. This soup is especially popular in the summer months when strawberries are plentiful and bursting with flavor.

Hands on time: 15 minutes  Total time: 6 hours and 15 minutes  Serves: 4

Ingredients:

1 pint sliced strawberries, tops removed
    1/2 cup granulated sugar
    1 cup half-and-half
1 cup (8 ounces) plain yogurt
    1 1/2 tablespoons vanilla
    1 1/2 tablespoons brandy
    1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup (4 ounces) strawberry yogurt
    4 hulled strawberries
    4 mint leaves

Instructions:

In a food processor or blender, puree strawberries, sugar, half-and-half and plain yogurt. Pour into a bowl and add vanilla, brandy and cinnamon. Stir in strawberry yogurt until well combined. Refrigerate for 4 to 6 hours.
