Ginger-and-Cardamom Sweet Rub for Fruit

This curry-inspired wet rub brings out the fruitiness of fleshy fruits like peaches, plums, cherries or figs. Serve them warm over ice cream or with a sugar cookie drizzled with honey.

Hands on time:   Total time: 5 minutes  Serves: 8

Ingredients:

    1/4 cup cinnamon

    2 tablespoons ground cardamom

    2 tablespoons ground ginger

    1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

    2 tablespoons hazelnut oil

    2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

    2 tablespoons brown sugar

    Sea salt to taste

Instructions:

Mix together the cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, nutmeg, oil, melted butter and brown sugar. Prepare fruits by washing and cutting in half and hulling or pitting. Rub the fruits generously with the mixture. Grill until tender, keeping the fruit away from the hottest part of the fire. Sprinkle with sea salt just before serving.
