IN THE KITCHEN WITH . . . / GINA SIDES, ALPHARETTA:
APPETIZER: Hot Chicken Cheese Dip

Nominated by Kristin Emerson
"One of the things that makes my best friend Gina Sides an awesome cook is that she cooks when many others wouldn't. Gina's husband travels a lot, meaning that she's left with two kids to take care of by herself most of the time. Most moms I know in similar situations choose not to cook much when the husband is not home. Not Gina, though. She cooks excellent meals and has taught her young children to enjoy a wide variety of foods.
"For at least a year, the only way I could get my 6-year-old son to try new foods was to tell him 'Ms. Gina made it!' "

Hands on time: 10 minutes  Total time: 1 hour and 15 minutes  Serves: 16

Ingredients:

2 (10-ounce) cans chicken breast chunks, drained
8 ounces cream cheese at room temperature
    16 ounces sour cream
1 1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese
    1 small onion, chopped
    2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
    1 round bread

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, stir chicken to flake. Add cream cheese, sour cream, cheese, onion and Worcestershire sauce and stir well to combine. Hollow out bread and fill with dip. Bake for 1 1/4 hours. Serve with bread cubes.

Notes:

"People always tell me how much they enjoy this, " Gina Sides says. "It is an amazingly simple recipe. If you serve it in a bread bowl, it adds a touch of elegance to a buffet. Serve with extra bread or crackers."
