Q: "I don't have a recipe to equal the Perfect Margarita from Nava -- definitely the best margarita in town. Could you get the recipe?"
-- Lynda Wier, Atlanta

A: "What makes our Perfect Margarita perfect is the aged tequila, " said Nava general manager John McDaniels. "If you want to do a simple margarita, you really want to use a nice tequila with a nice flavor." Nava uses Sauza brand Anejo Conmemorativo for these -- perfect indeed when served on the restaurant's patio.

Hands on time: 20 minutes  Total time: 20 minutes  Serves: 4

Ingredients:

    1/4 cup granulated sugar
    2 tablespoons water
    1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
    1/2 cup fresh lime juice
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons Sauza Anejo Conmemorativo tequila
    1/4 cup Cointreau
    Margarita salt

Instructions:

To make a simple sugar syrup, stir sugar and water together in a saucepan and heat until sugar is dissolved and liquid is clear. Set aside to cool while you squeeze the lemon and lime juices.
Pour the tequila and Cointreau into a pitcher, then stir in the simple syrup. Add lemon and lime juices and stir. Pour over ice into salted margarita glasses. (To salt glasses, touch the rims into a plate of water, then dip into margarita salt. Coarse margarita salt is available in many grocery stores.)
