Preparation time: 10 minutes
Brunch will never be the same after you've tried this sassy libation, which we tried for a summer entertaining article on pitcher drinks. It's sort of a cross between a bloody mary (tomato juice) and a margarita (lime juice and tequila.) To take it more over to the bloody mary side, replace the tequila with vodka.
Hands on time: 10 minutes Total time: 10 minutes Serves: 10
Ingredients:
-
2 1/4 cups silver or gold tequila
1 1/2 cups tomato juice
1 1/2 cups fresh orange juice
3/4 cup fresh lime juice
1/4 to 1/2 cup grenadine syrup (depending on desired sweetness)
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons hot pepper sauce
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
10 orange slices for garnish
Instructions:
If desired, moisten the rims of 10 8-ounce wineglasses with a little orange juice, then dip rims in salt. Put glasses in the refrigerator if there's room. Combine the tequila, tomato juice, orange juice, lime juice, grenadine, Worcestershire, pepper sauce, salt and allspice in a pitcher that holds at least 65 ounces; stir well. Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours. Fill prepared glasses three-quarters full with crushed ice. Add drink mixture and garnish each glass with an orange slice. --- From "The Ultimate Guide to Pitcher Drinks" by Sharon Tyler Herbst (Villard New York, $12.95)
