Q: A little over two years ago, we moved from the Atlanta area to the Northeast. I have been missing a wonderful house salad and salad dressing from Cafe Milano in Conyers. I can't find anything that compares up here!
DEBORAH THOMAS, York, Pa.
A: Garlic and herbs enhance a colorful variety of vegetables in this take on the restaurant staple. "It's a light combination of different vegetables and cheeses and herbs and vinegar, and it's very unique, " said general manager Scott Butler, who operates the restaurant with his father, Ken Butler.
The dressing is a house-made red wine vinaigrette that is served atop a compilation of iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, sliced red beets, yellow onion, red cabbage, garbanzo beans, sliced mushrooms and grated mozzarella cheese. Home chefs "can use as much or as little of whatever they like, " Butler said.
